Otto Bache (1839-1927) Italian attendance, 19th Century. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. The Danish artist Otto Bache was already ten years old student of the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen and a student of Wilhelm Marstrand (1810-1873), later a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and from 1887 professor of the same. Otto Baches' artworks are part of important collections such as the Danish, Swedish, or Scottish National Gallery. As a favorite portrait painter of the Danish court and aristocracy, his Œuvre is mainly distinguished in a popular genre and animal paintings. The fresh temperament of his painting style in the confident composition is also evident in this Italian team. An Italian company, almost piling on the fully loaded wagon, while a fellow traveler drives the load carrier and donkey next to the team, blends into the landscape. In the background, the volcano smokes while the driving team stirs up the dry ground in the barren landscape with dust. Frame: 38,5 x 51,5 cm
