Cylindrical column of white marble on a square plinth with a profiled base. The front of the otherwise smooth shaft is decorated with a relief in the form of a winged helmet above an Asclepius staff and flanking harpoons representing the attributes of the god Mercury. The capital with a meander motif completes this early 19th Century piece of art. Provenance: The column comes from the collection of the famous Florentine art dealer Giovanni Pratesi.
