Two-door black lacquer cabinet made in Japan for the European market towards the end of the 17th century. The cabinet is decorated at the corners and in the centre as a key escutcheon with metal fittings of gilded copper with floral decoration. The front of the doors is decorated with gold lacquer work depicting a Japanese bay with houses and a bridge. The sides of the body are decorated with floral decoration. The top shows red houses on gentle hills. The interior division consists of six drawers, of which the two lower ones are continuous across the entire width. The drawer fronts are decorated with further gold decorations in the form of flowers, grasses and small insects.
