Plaster Figure of Hebe, Italy, circa 1880

Plaster figure of Hebe, the Greek goddess of youth, after a celebrated original by Antonio Canova. The figure is shown with flowing drapery and an upswept curly hairstyle, captured in graceful motion. The work reflects 19th-century Neoclassical ideals and translates Canova’s refined sculptural language into a decorative plaster model. The fingers of the raised hand are missing.
