Small late Renaissance casket, known as a “Römhild box,” made of ebonized wood with a flat lid, paneled surfaces, alabaster appliqués, and a central handle. The exterior features a stylized architectural façade with arch and column elements in alabaster. The removable side panels reveal hidden drawers; these are painted green, while the interior is lined with marbled paper. The casket has been professionally restored while preserving its original patina. Provenance: Important private collection, Saarland.
