Life-size zinc cast figure of a nude youth with raised arm, draped panther skin, and a vine wreath around his curly hair. The composition follows the type of the “Resting Satyr” (attributed to Praxiteles; cf. 2nd century AD example, Royal Castle, Warsaw). The figure stands in contrapposto, leaning against a vine-covered tree trunk, referencing the close association of satyrs with the wine god Dionysus. The sculpture has been extensively professionally restored and mounted on a custom-made base. The raised arm and hand are missing. Provenance: The Royal Danish Horticultural Society
