Marble Portrait Bust of Robert Balfour (Scottish, 1818–1869), 19th Century

Portrait bust executed in white marble. In the Neoclassical manner, it depicts a middle-aged man with a long beard, shaved chin, and receding hairline, wrapped in a draped cloak and resting on a profiled base. Inscribed “Robert Balfour 1818 1869” on the reverse. It may be a portrait of the Scottish accountant of the same name from Edinburgh.
