Empire Wall Fountain, probably France, circa 1800

Monumental Empire wall fountain featuring a shallow, projecting semicircular basin carved from red Italien marble (Cottanello antico). The profiled basin is supported by three winged female herm figures cast in iron, with finely modeled heads and wings emphasizing the classical vocabulary of the period. The fountain rests on a corresponding stone base.
