SKU: 045-0397

Swedish wall console in gilt and stuccoed wood with rich Neoclassical decoration. At the center appears an Aesculapian staff, accompanied by a winged helmet of Hermes set against crossed sheaves of wheat. The side supports are formed as volutes terminating in lion’s paw feet. The apron is decorated with additional lion-head protomes and stucco ornament bands. The console is topped with a white marble slab with grey veining and rests on a green-painted base, likely later. The console shows signs of past alterations and restoration work. The reverse bears a label from the workshop of Petter Gustaf Bylander (1777–1859, master from 1811), active in Gothenburg.
