Depiction of a butcher's apprentice against an undefined brown background. He is balancing a large wicker basket filled with ham on his head. He wears a cap with a red tie, brown vest and white shirt. His left hand, doing the hand-in-waistcoat gesture, lends him dignity. In front of him are various cuts of meat as well as prominently placed kidneys and a sharpening stick.

Oil on canvas.

Gold-patinated stucco frame.

Image dimensions: 130 x 79 cm.
