Large Athénienne crafted from bronze with a black patina, supported by three legs terminating in winged lion heads. Resting atop is a basin with gadrooned sides, a domed lid, and three handles. This tripod-style design, executed in classical taste, was inspired by bronze vessels discovered in Pompeii. Provenance: Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel, Germany.
