Biedermeier secretary veneered in walnut, resting on gilt lion paw feet. The side pilasters are decorated with Egyptian-style caryatids and foliate inlays. The two-door lower section supports a flat writing flap with an ebonized interior. Above are a wide drawer and a low molded cornice. The elaborate interior features numerous drawers, letter compartments, and secret compartments with column decorations. At the center is a mirrored compartment with radial inlay to the base. The mirrored flap reflects a tondo on the ceiling depicting a Deesis painted on paper. Below are additional hinged compartments for writing utensils. The secretary has been professionally restored and hand-polished.
