Rectangular cast-iron casket known as the “Tobacco Box”, after a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1820. The pyramidal lid is topped by a pinecone-shaped finial, and the box rests on finely modelled lion paw feet. Delicately decorated throughout with foliate scrolls, the long sides depict two opposing griffins flanking a central torch. Marked on the underside with the stamp of the Buderus Foundry.
