Pair of large 19th-century walnut chests of drawers, each featuring three drawers, one of which is designed as a writing chest with a fall-front writing surface. The hardware is composed of disc-shaped brass pulls. The pilasters are fluted, and the slightly projecting tops are finely molded. The walnut veneer is symmetrically book-matched, with the contrast of the grain enhanced through professional restoration and polishing. The chests rest on renewed tapering square legs. The interior of the writing chest is fitted with a deep compartment, five small drawers, and flanking balustrades.
