Pair of very large terracotta planters in the Renaissance style, decorated with meander band motifs and scrolling foliage along the body. The vessels display pronounced sculptural detailing and are accentuated with stylized ring handles and a heraldic shield featuring three pine trees beneath a five-pointed star. This emblem is common in the rural region around Rome but cannot be definitively attributed to a specific family or workshop.
Each planter rests on four naturalistically modeled lion’s paw feet. In good condition with weathering consistent with age and older restorations. Impressive garden elements with strong architectural presence and historicist character.
